Using the Map

Our map shows you where a judgment comes from. There are two ways to use the map: browsing and searching. To search via the map, you must choose the "item set" belonging to the judgment. Item sets are organized by dialect, then speed: a judgment of Mexican Spanish having a slow rate of speech would be found in the "Mexican (slow)" item set.

All submission entries have a country of origin; for non-submission entries, it is possible that there may be no origin available. We can only use publically available information regarding the authors' national origin, which many authors do not share. A map listing does not show the exact location of any poster.  Origin information is accurate by country, with the exception of some from Spain; entries originating from Andalusia or Catalonia appear in those regions on the map. This data is useful for visualizing judgment origin by region and forming ideas about the types of entries available in this repository.

You may find some "missing" dialects or speeds, which indicates that we do not yet have any entries for that type of judgment. With your help, we will eventually have entries that span the entire Spanish-speaking world in both judgment and origin!
